It is my great pleasure to write some lines about the rising European research activity in the field of hair disorders. Trichology has witnessed growing interest by EADV members and dermatologists from all over the world. As an example, the scientific sessions on hair disorders during the last EADV Congress were packed full of dermatologists. In recent years, some outstanding papers on trichology from European authors have been published. In our view, the European research groups into trichology have reached a high level of distinction in the world of hair research.
We have been very lucky to participate (as main investigators or as co-investigators) in some relevant multicentre projects between European centres. In 2013 we created a Spanish research network between hair specialist centres. It has allowed us to publish some interesting multicentre studies about frontal fibrosing alopecia 1,2,3 , folliculitis decalvans 4,5 and alopecia areata 6,7,8 . During the past three years, we have started collaborations with some leading European centres, such aswithDr Tziotzios andDrMcGrathof theDivisionofGenetics and Molecular Medicine, King´s College
