® The National Palace of Culture in Sofia hosted more than 1500 par- tiicpants for the 3 rd EADV Spring Symposium. The meeting opened with a welcome message by the President of Bulgaria, which was fol- lowed by a cordial greeting from the EADV President Prof Johannes Ring, who wished all “to experience a little bit of the fine Sofia and gain a little bit more wisdom in Dermatology”. The Local Organising Committee, under the chairmanship of Prof Nikolai Tsankov, made every effort to prepare a successful symposium both scientifically and socially. Many prominent dermatologists from Europe – Contantin Orfanos, Georg Stingl, Martin Black and Chris Griffiths, to name only a few – presented the plenary lectures. On a lighter note, a footbal match was held between Bulgarian and European dermatologists – the Bulgarian team, captained by Nikolai Tsankov, won 5-3! At the closing ceremony, Prof Ring acknowledged the high level of clinical education, excellent organisation and very friendly spirit of this symposium and the EADV flag was handed over to Prof Raimo Suhonen from Lapland, who was to chair the next symposium the fol- lowing year.
