® From the opening plenary lecture on “Artificial intelligence and medicine: The secrets for a good marriage” to the now traditional Aesthetic Sunday session dedicated to cosmetic surgery, EADV’s 28 th Congress in Madrid covered the whole spectrum of Dermatology and Venereology. This year’s “hot topic” was skin imaging and included areas such as confocal microscopy, sonography in dermatology, optical coherence tomography and computer vision (machine and deep learning). Challenges, state-of-the art advances, future opportunities and the age-old question “can computer do it better than the dermatologist?” were all addressed and discussed. The event also saw the launch of the first EADV Nurse Day, a full day dedicated to nurses who truly are the heart of healthcare and we all appreciate their hard work and commitment every day. Amixed faculty of dermatologists and nurses brought together both parties to learn about their respective fields of interest. The two major topics were hand dermatitis and wound healing, as well as an update on biologics. We were also delighted to welcome back many sister societies and partners, among them our American colleagues for a joint EADV/AAD Symposium and our European researchers from the ESDR, as well as patients’ organisations in the Patient Society Village.
