® The 22 nd EADV Congress in Istanbul was indeed a true case of Turkish delight characterised by an excellent scientific programme, which was nicely complemented by an interesting social and cultural component. The opening ceremony took place in the congress venue, the very modern Istanbul Convention Centre (ICC) where, after the wel- come speeches from Congress President Prof Can Baykal and EADV President Prof Jana Hercogová, the participants enjoyed music from Anatolia. The congress motto “Dermatovenereology in a changing world” reflec- ted the diversity of the outstanding scientific programme, that was carefully prepared by the EADV Scientific Programming Committee and the Local Scientific Committee, orchestrated by Prof Baykal and Prof Mehmet Ali Gurer, the Congress Honorary President. More than 500 faculty members from all over the world shared their knowledge and experience with an emphasis on recent developments. Despite the rainy weather, the participants had the opportunity to enjoy Istanbul, the city that bridges Europe and Asia, a city which embraces different cultures, whilst also offering an impressive history, natural beauty and exotic cuisine.
