® “Discoveries in Dermatology” was the motto of the 20 th EADV Congress in Lisbon and it was fitting as the Colegio Ibero Latinoamericano de Dermatología (CILAD) brought together members from Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries (Iberia and the Americas) to join EADV. The opening ceremony provided the participants with a taste of Lisbon and Portugal in the Campo Pequeno Bullring, the congress venue. After the welcome address by the Congress President António Picoto and EADV President Frank Powell, the Sinfonietta de Lisboa, one of Portugal’s best orchestras, played the works by Portuguese composers, followed by Camane, one of the best fado singers. At the same time a famous Portuguese painter was drawing his inspirations from the music on a large screen. There was an incredible number of on-site registrants, jumping from 6250 participants to 7740 from 85 countries including 650 from Brazil, which forced the organisers to shut down applications for security reasons. Additionally, 147 exhibitors made up the technical show with 18 satellite symposia. The scientific programme organised by the Local Scientific Committee, chaired by Margarida Gonçalo, together with the EADV Scientific Programming Committee, and its chair, Luca Borradori, was of the highest level and included 3 live courses of surgery and cosmetics at the “Hospital de Luz” organised by Dr Campos Lopes. When the 20 th EADV Congress came to an end, participants left beau- tiful Lisbon with unforgettable memories both from the scientific and social points of view.
