s Carle Paul was born in France in March 1963 and graduated in Medicine from the Université de Paris V Descartes in 1988. His dermatology training was completed at the Université de Paris (1988– 1994), which included a research fellowship in immunology at the Université René Descartes Paris and INSERM research unit working on apoptosis induction and the mechanism of toxic epidermal necrosis. He later obtained a Master’s in Fundamental Immunology and a PhD in Pharmacology in Paris. In 1994 he was appointed a Lecturer in Dermatology and Director of the Clinical Pharmacology Unit of the Hôpital Saint Louis and Paris VII University. Between 1998 and 2005 Carle Paul was appointed to undertake pharmaceutical research in Basel, Switzerland whilst maintaining a clinical appointment at the Department of Dermatology in Mulhouse, France. Carle Paul was appointed as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Paul Sabatier University of Toulouse in 2006, a position he still holds. The department has developed into a large regional referral centre. He has been responsible for the development of important dermato- logical drugs for psoriasis, atopic eczema and fungal infections and topical calcineurin inhibitors for inflammatory skin diseases. Carle Paul served as Secretary General of EADV from 2012–2016 and President (2018–2020).

s Michael Reusch was born Kronshagen, Germany in May 1954. He graduated in Medicine from Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany in 1980. He spent five years abroad in the USA working in the Department of Biological Sciences, Stanford University and at the Psoriasis Research Institute in Palo Alto, California. On his return to Germany he completed his specialist training in dermato-venereology, allergology and dermatopathology at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. Since 1992 he has worked in the multidisciplinary dermato- logy group practice at the Tibarg Clinic in Hamburg. Between 2005–2013 Michael Reusch was President of the German Association of Practising Dermatologists and served as Secretary General of EADV between 2016–2017.
