I launched EADV News in the summer of 2001. This coincided with the purchase of EADV House in Brussels, which was prominently featured on the first page of the newsletter. By then it was becoming increasingly clear that we needed to regularly inform our membership and national societies much more about the growth of the Academy and promote recent developments. To aid us in this endeavour, EADV enlisted the help of MCI Brussels which operates an association management company in Europe to serve professional societies, trade and technical associations. I am pleased to say that MCI Brussels continues to produce EADV News – over 70 issues later! The magazine aims to promote both annual congresses and spring symposia, presidential perspectives along with regular reports from other officers and committee chairmen. Other regular features include information about fellowships or awards available and informative educational articles on “hot topics” in Dermato-Venereology. The Editor works with the help of the excellent EADV staff and is completely free of any inter- ference from the EADV leadership. I retired from the editorship in 2005 and handed over to the Joint Editors Fenella Wojnarowska and Gregor Jemec. In their first communal editorial they stated that we “hoped to present the human face of EADV and its officers to our members, to show the richness and diversity of Dermatology throughout Europe, and to encourage a partnership between patients and dermatologists”. I believe that they were very successful in this endeavour. Fenella retired in 2007, but Gregor continued until the autumn of 2016. Gregor saw EADV News as both a practical and cultural part of the Academy. Practical, because it is a source of information; and cultural because it conveys the spirit of EADV. He feels that EADV News has always done both. Christos Zouboulis took up the baton at the end of 2016 and oversaw the transition to a fully digital version of the newsletter with the Spring 2017 issue. EADV News has moved into a more tech- and eco-friendly era, with direct links to websites, videos and EADV’s social media channels.
