The idea of a journal for the Academy was first mooted at the second EADV OGM, which was held in Lisbon, and the following year (March 1991) the Board decided to have Elsevier as its publisher. A ‘pilot issue’ was produced in time for the 2 nd EADV Congress in Athens in October with Derek Freedman as the Executive Editor. It comprised 40 pages and had contributions by Ronald Marks, George Pavlaskis, Michael Meurer, and Otto Braun-Falco. Sarah Rogers and Frank Powell acted as an ad hoc Editorial Board for the pilot issue. In Athens in October 1991, Torello Lotti was appointed Dermatology Editor and Editor-in-Chief, with Derek Freedman as Venereology Editor and Administrative Editor. The Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV) was born and was publi- shed quarterly for the first three years, then bi-monthly. At the OGM in Prague in October 2002, Jean-Paul Ortonne was appointed as the next editor of the JEADV . Our Journal 2002–2016 From 2002–2013 Jean-Paul Ortonne was the Editor-in-Chief of the JEADV . Under his leadership the journal grew tremendously in quantity and quality and went from publishing six issues to 12 issues and several supplements per year. The Journal further increased the number of manuscripts submitted from 325 manuscripts per year in 2003 to 1800 manuscripts in 2012. Since 2014, Johannes Ring (Munich) has been the Editor-in-Chief. In 2015, Associate Editors where chosen with Franco Rongioletti (Cagliari) and Lidia Rudnicka (Warsaw). The editorial team with Maryse Clappier (Nice), Asao Sarukawa Aroldi (Lugano) and Laurence Zulianello (Geneva) is busy together with a new editorial board.
