What other activities are organised by the Fostering Committees?
Centres of Excellence EADV members who are specialists in dermato-venereology can take the opportunity to visit a der- matology department or private practice for a limited time to learn new techniques, gain updates on diagnosis/treatment, and learn how to organise a clinical service. EADV grants are available to help attendees cover the costs of their visit. People wishing to attend should register and submit their curriculum vitae to the Fostering team who review applications throughout the year. Master Class Since 2013, the Fostering team has organised Master Classes during EADV Spring Symposia. Between 100 and 150 residents and specialists under 35 can attend the one-day theoretical sessions. Networking event During the EADV Congress in Copenhagen in 2015, the Fostering team hosted their first Networking event in the Terrace Room of the Bella Congress Centre to mark 10 years of EADV Fostering courses. Many former course attendees and speakers took part and a video highlighting the range of courses organised from 2005 to date was shown during the cocktail. EADV President Prof Erwin Tschachler ran a tombola during which an attendee won a free pass to attend a resident course of his or her choice. All participants enjoyed the laidback atmosphere and received a little gift at the end of the event. Seeing the success of that event, a Networking event has been held every year to bring together the participants and speakers of former courses. How do we see the future? With technology rapidly evolving, more and more trainings are accessible over the internet, which is a great advantage to doctors with busy schedules who can follow courses without leaving the comfort of their own home or workspace. Although new technologies in terms of training offer many advantages, the Fostering team will be maintaining their face-to-face courses. We believe that it is crucial for our attendees to be able to meet and build lasting relations with fellow dermatologists from around the world. Our specialty is the organisation of interactive and practical sessions, so we will be maintaining places for dermatolo- gists to come and learn and, most importantly, put into practice their new knowledge. With now more than 25 courses organised each year, EADV is proud to have a leading role in the dis- semination of the latest research and updates on all topics of Dermatology and Venereology. Acknowledgements The Fostering team would like to thank all the course chairs mentioned above and their speakers for the excellent courses they have delivered, as well as the committee chairs, members and staff who have contributed to the success of the courses.
